Negotiations Updates
August and September updates will be added when provided by the Negotiations Committee.
July 2026 Negotiations Update
Your AFA Negotiations Committee met with management July 9–10 in Philadelphia.
Section 21 (Moving Expenses) was tentatively agreed to at current contract language, bringing the total to 15 tentatively agreed sections as of July.
On Section 8 (Leaves of Absence), some issues remain tied to scheduling negotiations. AFA opposes the Company’s proposed requirement to use vacation and sick time during medical leave and FMLA leave to care for another person.
The committee is reviewing the Company’s Section 17 (Training) proposal, including self-booked training travel and a duty day beginning upon arrival at the training facility. AFA has concerns about the proposed move to a single day of in-person training.
The committee also met with SkyWise to learn about PBS capabilities and limitations while preparing responses on Sections 5 (Vacation), 7 (Scheduling), and 31 (Hours of Service).
AFA has not agreed to PBS. Any tentative agreement must benefit Flight Attendants.
Membership meeting reminder: October 22, 2026. Save the date and bring your questions, concerns, and suggestions. Check your email for meeting details.
June 2026 Negotiations Update
Your AFA Negotiations Committee met with the Company June 8–10 at AFA’s new International Headquarters in Washington, DC.
Proposals were exchanged on Sections 8 (Leaves of Absence), 13 (Union Business), 17 (Training), and 24 (General).
Sections 13 and 24 reached holding points. Only a small number of economic issues remain, and those will be revisited later. Work continues on Sections 8 and 17.
AFA continued evaluating the Company’s PBS proposals and requested a meeting with the Company and the prospective vendor before responding on Sections 5 (Vacation), 7 (Scheduling), and 31 (Hours of Service).
May 2026 Negotiations Update
Your AFA Negotiations Committee met with the Company May 18–20 in Harrisburg.
Section 29 (Health and Safety) was tentatively agreed to, bringing the total to 14 of 32 sections as of May. Progress may slow as bargaining moves into more complex scheduling and economic issues.
AFA passed proposals on Sections 10 (Uniforms), 12 (Probation), 13 (Union Business), and 24 (General). The Company passed Section 8 (Leaves of Absence) and countered Sections 12, 13, and 24.
The committee continued researching the Company’s scheduling and PBS proposals to understand their impact on Flight Attendants and prepare a counterproposal.
Thank you to everyone who attended mobilization training on May 11.
